We Need Your Help at the Stage! 

• Do you want to save GICCA some serious money?  We’re looking for one or two people to mow the grass at the Stage (not the whole Park!) twice a month, starting in April (if it ever stops raining).  Each mowing saves us $120, so if we can get volunteers, we will save over $2,000!  If you have a riding mower and can commit to one or two shifts for the entire summer, please contact us at volunteer@myguemes.org

• We are watering those plants at the Stage that are still getting established or have just been moved.  We are looking for a volunteer to water weekly; some plants only need once or twice a month, and we’ll keep looking for ways to make it as easy as possible. If you are interested in helping get our plants growing, contact us at volunteer@myguemes.org 

• Weekly landscaping sessions every Wednesday from 9:00-10:30.  Bring your tools or use ours, but bring your gloves!

Purple Points Conversation - 

Caring for our Community: Volunteerism 

March 15th at 11AM to 1PM 

Purple Points Collaborative Conversation bring people together to listen for connecton. Participants share perspectives in small group and find "purplepoints" of agreement. Eash conversation is a new adventrue and leaves you ready for more discussion. The process is designed to have respectful and meaningful conversaiton with ANYONE to talk about ANYTHING!

It's a great way to get to know your neighbors on the island. ALL ARE WELCOME! Join us at the Spirit of Guemes Center - 7611 Guemes Island Road.

Guemes Island Cleanup and Recycling Day

April 18 th , 2026 10 till Noon

Begin and End at the Schoolhouse Park

Adding to the 2026 Earth Day celebrations, Groundfloor Guemes is hosting an

all-island Cleanup and Recycling Day. As in previous years, we invite you to

bring your work gloves and join fellow islanders at 10 AM at the Schoolhouse

Park, pick up tongs and trash bags, and head out to selected roadsides or

beaches. Return to the park with the collected debris no later than Noon.

Truck support will be available to help you transport large found items (tires,

metal, etc.) back to the awaiting dump trailer at the park. The collected trash

will then be removed from the island by the Skagit County Public Works Dept.

This year we have expanded the Cleanup Day to include the recycling of

selected items, as follows:

Batteries – Any and All, from teeny to huge in size

Propane tanks – Empty, up to 10 gallons in size

Empty plastic nursery Pots: All sizes

Of course, RE-USE is better than RECYCLING, so if you are in need of some of the

garden pots, come to the park between 10 and Noon and take what you can use.

Grief Circle

Last Sunday of each month from 12noon till 1:30pm in the Spirit of Guemes Center

Please feel welcomed to join us!

Many of us are feeling the effects of loss. Whether through death, disappointment, diminishment, or betrayal, loss comes for us all. Grieving is something all of us must face.

Taking refuge in community is one of the best ways to heal our grief. Please join with fellow Islanders as we gather for mutual support. It doesn’t matter whether you’re grieving a death, a diminished capability, a lost hope, or a fearful future. All are welcome.
